Stewardship Council

The Stewardship Council for Sacred Heart Parish was established in June, 2014 with the general responsibility to promote stewardship awareness and the annual stewardship renewal.
Stewardship is defined as the grateful response of a Christian disciple who recognizes and receives God's gifts and shares these gifts in love of God and neighbor.

The four Pillars of Stewardship include Hospitality, Prayer, Formation and Service.

Some of the responsibilities of this Council include:

1. Carry out stewardship renewal on an annual basis.
2. Promote stewardship within the Parish throughout the year.
3. Prepare and maintain a time and talent list
4. When parishioners volunteer, ensure that they are contacted to
become involved.
5. Evaluate the program on an annual basis.

Old Business

  1. Lay witness talks
    1. Donnie offered to write a personal testament to include either in the bulletin or the newsletter which was based on his reading about it. The oral presentations will be given by Regis and Stacy Sanger and her children.
    2. Fr. Warren would begin the Stewardship discussion on October 25, 26.  The weekend presentations will be November 1 and 2nd, 8th and 9th and 15th and 16th.
    3. Fr. Warren will not be here on November 2nd.  Regis will be gone that weekend as well.
    4. Donnie spoke with Regis and confirmed his availability for November 15 and 16.
    5. Mary K. suggested Doug and Mary Smith as another possible couple to do a stewardship presentation.  Fr. Warren asked if Jim and Mary Mitchell would consider a stewardship talk; we accepted.
    6. Finalize Commitment forms
      1. Mary K checked with Pam about sorting the mailing list for children ages 10-18 and learned that was possible.
      2. The forms will need to be mailed to all families.  Mary K plans on writing a letter to include with the booklet and commitment forms.  We discussed ways to get the information to everyone with a suggestion of trying to hand them out after mass.  We agreed that it would be best to mail the items to all families.  Donnie prepared a list for Pam to get the number of adults and number of children so that the forms can be sent to the printer by October 13.  Donnie will take the forms in electronic form to Great Bend.
      3. The Ministry Directory was reviewed again and additional corrections suggested.   Mary K. will take the Directory with the corrections to Brenda on 10/10 so she can provide the final draft in electronic form to Donnie.
      4. Stewardship Banner – Fr. Warren ordered banners that will likely be placed in the sanctuary.

New Business

  1. Explanation to Parish – October 25 and 26.
  2. Distribution of forms – Planning on October 27
  3. Follow-up on forms not returned.   Will plan on focusing on following up on the forms that were returned and develop a plan to reach out to individuals who haven’t responded in the 2015 Stewardship year.
  4. Mary M suggested that we bring all of the Church councils together periodically to share information and clarify direction of each committee to avoid duplication of effort.
  5. Mary K gave a copy of the book “Grateful and Giving” by Deacon Donald R. McArdle to each member.

Next Meeting: November  13th at 6:30 PM
